Employee Spotlight: Malcolm Obimpe

Career Questions

Q: What experiences led you to Tank Utility?

A: I was originally trying to be an entrepreneur and sell handmade concrete candles and I didn’t want to pay someone to make the website so I did it myself. Making the website was a lot of fun and got me interested in the software side of things. I’ve always been into technology and have found it interesting. When I saw the job posting from Tank it seemed like a really good opportunity.

Q: What do you like about your job?

A: I like that everyone is really chill. My first day we went out on a company outing to do ax throwing and that was a lot of fun. The engineering team is great and the atmosphere is really conducive to being productive and not stressed out.

Q: What kind of projects do you work on?

A: Lately I’ve been working on some new feature development which is less fixing stuff. I’ve been excited to work on developing product features that our customers will actually use to deliver more efficiently and it’s been a great experience creating the MVP and getting feedback on through user testing. I’m excited to continue to improve this new feature and get it used by customers!

Getting to Know Malcolm

Q: What is one of your biggest accomplishments?

A: I would have to say that it would be teaching myself to code.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

A: One thing is that I played soccer and the second thing is that for most of my life I was 5’2 but now I’m 6’6. I like being tall but it definitely has its downsides like getting asked if I play basketball all the time and not being able to stand on the train.
