The Six Customers Who Need A Tank Monitor

After parsing through the usage and delivery history from thousands of tanks we monitor for our suppliers and consumers we have come up with our six most difficult to forecast propane customers.  The first account in this series is the propane pool heater account!  Usage for these accounts is nearly impossible for a propane marketer to predict.  Peak consumption occurs around weekends, holidays, or guest visits but weather can foil even the best planned pool party.  Let’s take a look at the data to see how a tank monitor can eliminate the guesswork for a marketer.

After a great pool party on the weekend of June 11 this propane pool heater customer dropped to nearly 10% and called for a refill.  Not knowing when the customer would throw another pool party the marketer put this customer on a route to ensure they didn’t run-out.  You can see from our software portal below that routing the customer led to two small deliveries of around 50 gallons.  Utilizing a monitor to send an alert when the customer is low rather than routing the customer would have allowed the marketer to save 2 deliveries.  Add these unprofitable fills to the 12 gallon delivery in late May and the marketer could have saved 3 drops with a monitor!
